Movie Review

“Let the Sunshine In”

In my opinion, the best film in the world or at least one of the best is “Hair”. It’s a musical starring John Savage, Beverly D’Angelo and Treat Williams. The film is about a guy called Claude Hooper Bukowski, who came to New York City to get in the United States Army and to go to the war in the Vietnam. In NY, Claude meets George Berger at the Central Park, Berger is a hippie and he and his friends Jeannie, Hud and Woof just want to have peace, fun and love.

After a lot of troubles and adventures with the hippies, Claude got into the army. Berger, trying to save his new friend from the war, gets into a complicated situation, with terrible consequences.
The film was directed by Miles Forman. It was based on the book and music of Gerome Ragni and James Rado. The music was composed, arranged and conducted by Galt MacDermot and it’s really good. I’ve loved all the songs, but my favorites were “Aquarius”, “I got life”, “Hair” and “Flesh Failures”.

This is my favorite film because it’s a musical with great and psychedelic songs, and the context is the sixties, which is certainly my favorite decade and the subject is one of my favorites: cultural revolution.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

In my opinion, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is the best movie of adventure that I’ve ever watched. It’s a film starring Johnny Depp and Freddy Highmore. The story is about Willy Wonka, who is the owner of the largest factory of chocolates of the planet, and when he decides to choose an heir for his empire, through a contest.
Then, five children won the contest and visited his factory for a day.

The original movie was made in 1971 and the new version was made in 2005. This new version was directed by Tim Burton. The budget was U$150 million and the box office was U$250 million.

The reasons why “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is my favorite movie is because, when you’re watching this movie, you can see scenes of comedy and, ate the same time, adventure and music. And also because of the special effects that are great!

"Alien Invasion"

It was an apparently normal Friday, everybody was working, counting the minutes to go out and drink some beer with friends, go to parties and enjoy the weekend.
In this apparently normal Friday, something very strange and terrible happened. In the little city of Itamambuca, the Zirão’s pub was full of people, when a lot of OVNIS appeared in the sky. Everybody saw the OVNIS but everybody was drunk and thought that it was normal.
In a few seconds, all of them were dead.

At the same time, in all the cities around the World, there were OVNIS, which started to explode the buildings and the people. The earth was being invaded by aliens from the planet XYZ, from the Orion System. Their leader was the powerful Maleficus, and they were on earth to eat us, because the food in their planet was over. Through the UN, the USA made a deal with the aliens, and promised not to use their powerful weapons and in exchange the aliens would not attack us.
The aliens were very similar to human, but the only difference was that the aliens were green, had big hands and spoke another language. However, the aliens could not be harmed by ordinary weapons.
Within a few days, the human race was almost defeated. World Leaders were ready to surrender, but two people, a man and a woman, refused to give up. They were not world leaders, they were ordinary people. The man worked as a waiter and the woman as a waitress in Mc’Donalds. They had a plan: the aliens were on earth killing the humans because they were looking for food. But they probably eat stones in their planet, since they like eating human meat, because everybody knows that human meat is horrible and hard.

So, the way to save the earth was clear: Just give the aliens some meat.
At first, no one believed them. But they gave some “picanha” meat and some hamburgers to the aliens and they liked it a lot, and decided to invade the planet TETA, where the dominant race is the cow.

"Hooked on Ballet

I have interviewed my sister. Her name is Isabella, She is twelve years old. She studies at Santa Marcelina School in the 6 grade.
Her hobby is performing Ballet. She started when she was six years. She is hooked on Ballet because she loves dancing and because her sister (me) dances too.
The good aspects are: she has presentations in the end of year and she dances in festivals that she and her group take part every year.
But there are bad aspects: she needs to dance four hours every week and her teacher is a little strict.
I think that Ballet is great because you have discipline, learn new styles, make new friends and know new places when you go to festivals, but there are things that you need to respect and understand: time of classes and the teacher. But despite it my sister and I are hooked on Ballet."

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL STUDENTS INVOLVED.
YOU´VE DONE A GREAT JOB!

Asking for advice on a "problem page"

"I need to help a friend.
Last week my friends Eric, Rochely and I were watchig a movie in Rochely's house. We ate a lot of popcorn, and after that Rochely wanted to eat some cookies , and Eric said that she ate to much. So she started acting like a paranoic, thinking she was fat, but she is in good shape.

During lunch, the day before yesterday, she said that she wouldn't eat because she had had a good breakfast, but she had always eaten lunch.

Yesterday we went to the sopping mall, and had lunch there, but she only ate three of my french fries (because I bought a sandwich with french fries and a Coke) and a little of my Coke.

I tried talking with her and I said "You are a paranoic". But she said "If I'm a paranoic, it's my problem. Eric talked with her. He said he didn't want to worry her by saying that she ate too much. But she said that he was right and she really was getting fat.

I really don't know what to do. Please, help me!"

“When I lost my friend’s CD”

Some time ago, I found myself in a tricky situation. It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was at my friend’s house. We were listening to some music and I liked one of his CD’s a lot. It was “Ventura” from the band “Los Hermanos”. I asked him to borrow the CD to copy it. Ho told me that there was no problem, he only asked me to so it quickly, because that was one of his favorite CD’s.

That night, I copied the CD on my computer and listened to the songs for a long time. On Monday, at school, he asked me where the CD was. I have forgotten it. I apologized to him and promised to bring it on the following day.

When I came home, I started to search everywhere, but I couldn’t find the CD. On the following day, I told the truth to my friend. I offered to buy a new CD, but he told me that it was not necessary. I insisted and he accepted.

On the following Saturday, I woke up and remembered that I had to buy a new CD for my friend. I started to get dressed and when I was getting a t-shirt, I found the CD in the drawer!!! How it appeared there, I have no idea! But it was good for me to find that CD and I could give it back to my friend on Monday!

OBS. This is not a real story. I’m a very responsible guy!

LETTER TO A WORKAHOLIC

Dear workaholic,

I'm sitting at my table in the office now. And I think how good it is to work, to know new people and to exchange ideas.Once I was a workaholic, I used to be frantic, work all day long and take more work to my house. I never stopped. Today I see you like this. Now I changed, I'm still working a lot, but when I leave the office I forget everything and I enjoy my free time.Think about your life and your family.
Time goes by so fast.

Regards,
Marcia
