An overall view from our semester in Starter 4...

We have made a project with classical books. It started before the Cultural Week. We were researching about architecture (Ramos de Azevedo and Antonio Gaudi) but the teacher told us something about literature.
We have read four books: Emma and Persuasion, by Jane Austin; Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë; And King Solomon’s mines, by H. Rider Haggard.

Our class was divided in 4 groups, and each pair was responsible for a different novel.

After one month, we were ready to present the stories. Some of us presented it like a class, others roleplayed it and others made an interview! It was really fun!

We all have enjoyed reading these books about romance, drama and adventure! We have had a chance to see that we can already understand many things in English and communicate with other students!

Hi, Folks!

This is what an “inspired”, amazing student of mine produced after revising the use of WISHES. She accepted the suggestion to create a song and here it goes:

I can’t go back in time

I wish I knew better
How to live my life
If you stay with me
Maybe I’ll decide

I wish I had not
Forgotten to say goodbye
Will you forgive me?
‘Cause I can’t see you cry

I wish we hadn’t had so many fights
We can make it if we try

I only wish I could go back in time
To say to you how I love you
If only you would come back to my life
I wish you would want me with you

But there’s nothing I can do
If you don’t want me here with you
Now I know I can’t go back in time
If only you would be all mine

Nathan's Song

Today I found my best friend
Today I found who gave his life for me
Today I found who died on the cross for me

Chorus:
I praise, I say
Jesus is my friend

In the moment of sadness
When everything seems lost
I know that he is the only one
Who can help me
I know that he's the one
Who can save me

The texts below were written by the learners from the STARTER 3 group at Colégio Santa Marcelina. It was a wonderful semester and we had loads of fun together. Thank you Ana, Marina, Matheus and Verônica for being so nice and dedicated.

Teacher Deyse misses you already.

Hello! My name is Marina. I study at Santa Marcelina school. It’s very big! It’s in São Paulo, on Cardoso de Almeida Street. I live and study in Perdizes. Luciana Gimenes, Valentina Caran and Solange Frasão studied at Santa Marcelina.
My school is nice because I have a lot of friends. My school is horrible because there are some people who use coarse language.
I usually leave home at ten to seven. I wear a white T-shirt and navy blue trousers. My favorite subjects are Arts, English and Science. I have lunch at twelve-thirty at home. My favorite sport is volleyball. In the afternoon, I do my homework and take a shower. At night, I watch Rebelde, I have dinner at seven-thirty and I go to sleep at ten o’clock.
