São Paulo

São Paulo is the biggest city in Brazil, and one of the biggest in the world. With a population of 10.927.985 people, São Paulo is the third greater metropolis in the world.
The village of “São Paulo de Piratininga” was founded by two fathers who built a Jesuit college in 1554. From that year on the city started getting bigger and bigger until it has become what it is now.

São Paulo is known for its cultural effervescence. The city is a dynamic cultural centre, assembling museums, art galleries, cinemas, theaters and many other cultural spots. The Modern Art Museum (MAM) and the Museum of Art of São Paulo (MASP) are some striking examples of the quality of São Paulo’s cultural spots. They open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesdays to Sundays, and the entrance tickets costs R$ 15,00 (U$ 6,75).

For those who enjoy fine cuisine, São Paulo offers a wide variety of restaurants to suit every taste. Here you can find all kinds of restaurants: Italian, French, Chinese, Brazilian, Australian and so on.

If you want to find out about football you can go to one of the many stadiums located in São Paulo. You can watch a game every Wednesday night and every Sunday afternoon. The tickets cost R$10,00 (U$4,50). The emotion is guaranteed.

No visit is complete without a trip to Avenida Paulista. This is the main avenue of São Paulo, and it is its cultural and financial centre. Banks, museums and street artists share the sidewalks of Avenida Paulista. It is, undoubtedly, a great spot to be visited.
